Exhaust heat sensor, exhaust heat detector, silencer sensor. A beloved child has many names. An exhaust heat sensor located in the silencer used in Lynx and Ski-Doo snowmobiles. This sensor fits several different engines but has mainly been used in 600 Etec and 600 SDI engines.

How do I know if the sensor is broken?

Usually, a broken sensor will light the engine warning light on the snowmobile. However, you can try to confirm this by displaying the snowmobile’s error code. On some Lynx and Ski-Doo snowmobiles, error codes can be shown by holding down the M-button and quickly toggling the light switch until the error codes appear on the display.

Sensor installation

Usually, installing the sensor takes about 10 minutes, of which 5 are spent searching for tools and fiddling with the phone. Sometimes, however, the task may resist if the old sensor has rusted or seized for some reason in the silencer threads. Therefore, we recommend applying a little anti-seize grease, for example Loctite 767, to the threads of the new sensor.
