How do I know if my snowmobile's stator is broken?
You can measure the resistance values from the stator wires, which will give indications of the stator's condition. However, this does not always reveal whether the stator is actually broken or not. If you have a multimeter, you can check the stator values as follows.
- Yellow to yellow lead = 0.4 ohms +/-20%

Red to black lead = 18 ohms +/- 20%
Stator installation
When replacing the stator, we recommend checking the following items.
- Check that there is no corrosion on the wiring harness connectors.
- Inspect and repair the wiring harness if there are any chafed or melted spots on the wires.
- Operation of the voltage regulator.
- We recommend using dielectric grease or vaseline on the connectors of the wiring harness.
